Why do I have to provide my address? 
Only Oxford County residents and businesses can use the Waste Management Facility. We ask that your address be provided for proof of residency as well as tracking waste throughout the County.
Does the facility accept fiberglass boats?

How do I get rid of a camper?
Campers are accepted at the facility as long as all of the recyclable material has been removed, including the steel frame, windows, tires, and all fluids and gases (propane, sewage, Freon, etc.) Please call 519-539-9800, toll-free 1-800-755-0394, to discuss program limitations.
 Does the facility accept asbestos or contaminated soils?
Please call 519-539-9800, toll-free 1-800-755-0394, to discuss program limitations and make an arrangement to dispose of asbestos or contaminated soils.
Will I have to go to the tipping face?
Any vehicle can be asked to go to the landfill instead of the public bins to dispose of their waste depending on site conditions.
 Will I have to separate my material?
Construction and demolition materials, along with other recyclable and hazardous waste material, must be separated to be recycled at the Oxford County Waste Management Facility.

Oxford County Waste Management Facility

Oxford County’s Waste Management Facility (landfill) is a one-stop shop for residents and businesses in Oxford County to dispose of their garbage and recycling. Play the video to take a virtual tour of the facility to see how it operates and what kinds of materials you can bring for disposal.

To help ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site, customers are asked to observe the following rules:

  • Unsafe loads will be rejected.
  • Objects that could damage machinery will be rejected.
  • Speed limits must be obeyed.
  • Customers are responsible for removing waste material from their vehicles.
  • Loads must be tarped and secured.
  • No illegal dumping of waste.
  • Scavenging is not permitted.
  • Customers should be prepared to be directed to the tipping face.

Oxford County reserves the right to reject any load or object that appears to be a hazard to the safety of its employees. To help ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site, clients are asked to follow the rules.

Location

Hours and Holidays

Operating hours for commercial and residential customers are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

The facility is closed on Sundays and the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day 
  • Family Day
  • Good Friday
  • Victoria Day
  • Canada Day
  • Civic Holiday (first Monday of August)
  • Labour Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • Boxing Day (December 26)

Landfill operation may extend beyond operating hours (including Statutory Holidays) to accommodate curbside collection operations.

The Oxford County Waste Management Facility accepts cash, debit, credit card and Mastercard.

The customer's vehicle is weighed on the way into the site and again on the way out. The difference in weight is assessed and the appropriate tipping fee is determined. There is a flat fee for items such as refrigerators, and other Freon containing items.

2024 Tipping Fees

  • Mixed Solid Waste $92.00/1000 kg
  • Construction and Demolition Waste $88.00/1000 kg
  • Asbestos Waste $350/1000 kg
  • Minimum load charge of $10 applies
  • Segregated Loads of Scrap Metal: No Charge
  • Items which contain Freon or may have contained Freon: $20.00/unit surcharge (unless tagged by an authorized Freon removal technician)

Offences

Any vehicle that does not abide by the Highway Traffic Act or Oxford County By-law 4954-2800 will be subject to increased fees.
1st offence: 2X disposal fee
2nd offence: 3X disposal fee
3rd offence: 5X disposal fee

Homeowners with small domestic loads of waste will be diverted to the Transfer Station.  Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (IC&I) vehicles will be required to go to the tipping face (pit). However, on Saturdays, all vehicles may be directed to the tipping face (pit).

 Special Waste

The Oxford County Waste Management Facility (landfill) accepts other special waste that requires special provisions.

If you have contaminated soils and/or asbestos, you are required to call in advance: 519-539-9800 or 1-800-755-0394.

Acceptable special wastes

  • Tree limbs/stumps no longer than 6 feet/ 1.8 metres
  • Rubble small enough to be handled by one person
  • Railway ties/trees cut into 3-foot/ 0.9-metre length
  • Needles: autoclaved and in proper containers
  • Infectious wardroom/animal husbandry: autoclaved and in proper containers

Unacceptable special wastes

  • Burning material
  • Material in burn barrels
  • Chemical, liquid and pathological waste
  • Car bodies, recreational vehicles or farm machinery
  • Dead animals
  • Long pieces of steel tubing or piping
  • Recyclable residue from outside the County
  • Objects that may damage machinery
