OCL announces new Facebook page 2012-02-28
New Facebook page keeps the public informed of ‘all things library'

This week, Oxford County Library joined billions of other users on Facebook. The Facebook page offers library patrons a new way to stay connected with OCL, keep up with news from the library world, and stay informed about free programs and events for all ages to enjoy.

Branch locations are easily identified on the page and link to individual branch program calendars, making it easy for the public to see what’s happening at their local library.

“We expect that our Facebook presence will prove an effective way of reaching our public, making sure that they are aware of the amazing array of products and services offered, free of charge, at our branches,” says CEO Lisa Miettinen.

More and more people are using their local library, in-person and online, in a variety of new ways, such as free downloadable eBooks and music, chef visits, Book Club sets, gaming, Lunch and Learn events, Books for Babies programs, and Laughter Yoga classes, to name a few.

Kobo eReaders loaded with 20 bestsellers for you to borrow

Oxford County Library now has a limited number of eReaders (electronic book readers) for OCL patrons to borrow. Each Kobo Touch eReader is loaded with 20 titles, all current bestsellers and recommended reads.

The eReaders are available to any adult patron 18 and over, who is in good standing with the library, with no fines or overdues, and who has been a patron of Oxford County Library for at least 6 months.

Each time you borrow an eReader, you will be asked to sign an eReader Borrower’s Agreement.

For information or to place a hold, please visit or phone your library branch or email your branch supervisor. The eReaders are not displayed in the catalogue.

An eReader on hold can be sent to any branch of Oxford County Library. The loan period is 3-weeks (21 days), non-renewable, and a borrower may checkout only one eReader at a time.
