Special Docudrama Project
In the Audio-Visual Gallery, visitors can relax in theatre-style seating to watch hertiage videos and feature films from Criterion Pictures on the 8' x 10' screen. New this year, art exhibits in the theatre gallery--featuring many of our talented local artists.
Visitors can view our own historical 50 minute docudrama "When Opportunity Kills" The Benwell/Birchall Affair, produced by the Princeton & District Museum & Library Association with the assistance of an Ontario Trillium Grant, directed by local filmmaker Ben Locche of BLC.
The video examines the notorious and sensational 1890 Woodstock Town Hall trial of Reginald Birchall and his conviction for the murder of Frederick Benwell. Birchall lured English compatriot Benwell to Canada under the guise of entering into a farming partnership and training opportunity for which Benwell's family paid Birchall. Benwell's body was found, shot twice in the head, in a Princeton area swamp.
