November 3rd, 2005
The 9th annual James McIntyre Poetry Evening, held on Thursday November 3, was a wonderful evening with standing
room only in Ingersoll’s beautiful Council Chamber. At this poetry evening, we honoured the winners of this year’s
James McIntyre Poetry Contest.
The contest is sponsored by the Ingersoll Times, The Corporation of the Town of Ingersoll, and Oxford County Library.
Our thanks to Carman Mott, Mike Hennessy, Len Reeves, and the Ingersoll Foundation for donating prizes.
Thanks to Bonnie Mott, our MC, to Gail MacKay, who read the first prize poems aloud, to Shirley Lovell,
Mike Hennessy, and Ingersoll Mayor Paul Holbrough, who gave out prizes, and to Maisie and Harry Masters
who represented veterans and presented the Year of the Veteran Awards. We thank Maigan Hominick for her incredible
performance, dancing and playing the fiddle. Thanks also to Ruby Miree, our caterer, to the library staff, and to
the staff of the Town of Ingersoll. Last but not least, we are grateful to the contest judges, Dr. Catherine Ross
and Dr. Lynne McKechnie, both of the faculty of Information and Media Studies at the University of Western Ontario.
