         Thursday November 4th, 2004

On Thursday November 4, 2004, the winners of this year's James McIntyre Poetry Contest were honoured in an evening of poetry in the Town of Ingersoll Council Chambers. Click here to read the winning poems.

Thanks to all those who made the Poetry Evening and the James McIntyre Poetry Contestpossible: M.C. Yvonne Holmes Mott; Ingersoll Mayor Paul Holbrough and former Mayor Mike Hennessy, who handed out the awards; Ingersoll's Cheese Poet Laureate Shirley Lovell; Gail MacKay, who read the first prize winning poems aloud; Jennie Holbrough for providing a musical interlude; the contest judges, Dr. Catherine Ross and Dr. Lynne McKechnie of the University of Western Ontario; and to our sponsors, The Ingersoll Times, the Corporation of the Town of Ingersoll, and Oxford County Library.
