Autumn Sounds
By: Shirley Lovell
The sounds of autumn now reflect
The summertime in retrospect,
That whisper through the corn stalks dry,
As overhead the wild geese cry,
The rhythm of their wings in flight
Makes music for our souls delight,
The rustle tat your footsteps make
As through the woods a stroll you take,
A flock of chittering, chattering crows,
The sudden 'swoosh'. As off it goes,
The crickets chorus sharp and shrill
Throughout the evening calm and still,
As summer's boisterous busy pace
Gives way to autumn's quiet grace.
