The Church was built in 1860 of red brick made in the Washington brick yard. In 1925 the vote carried in favor of union and today the Washington Methodist Church is a small part of the United Church of Canada.

The Sanctuary has a seating capacity of 175 on the main floor and 35 seats in the balcony. There is a choir loft to the left of the pulpit. A kitchen and Sunday School room are directly behind the sanctuary. There is an organ and a piano. The church is wheelchair accessible from the Sunday School room. Parking is at the side and front of the Church.

The Washington United Church currently serves approximately 35 families
