District Chief means that the person was chief for the village of Norwich only. The District Chief reported to the Regional Chief (the person was chief for the whole township).

In 1988, the Township changed to a system of district chiefs only. We no longer have a regional chief. Each station has it's own Fire Chief.

In June, 1998 due to the changing role of the fire department, the township changed back to a system using district chiefs and a regional chief.
