Using the Archives

Archives Reading Room Map and directions to the Norwich and District Archives can be found here.

You must have an appointment to access archival materials. The Archives Committee of the Norwich and District Historical Society operates a selfserve genealogical/local history reading room. Volunteers will assist researchers in the use of the room.

There is a daily charge of $3.00 to conduct research, or unlimited visits during regular hours with a $12.00 yearly membership.

    Regular hours are as follows:
    • Tuesday - Friday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm (closed 12:00 - 1:00)
    • Winter months have reduced hours

Archives Reading Room Please phone ahead as hours are subject to change. Appointments may be made for other times. Phone well in advance to arrange a time.

Terms Governing Use and Reproduction of all Norwich and District Archives Collections: Access limited where original records are fragile. Most records have been microfilmed. Reproduction of documents will be provided at archivists' discretion, and at the requester's expense.
