Are you interested??

To sit on the Accessibility Committee for the Town of Ingersoll? The criteria is quite broad, but the person(s) would have a visual, walking etc. challenge. The meetings are held in the afternoon once a month at the Town Hall.

You would review applications to Paratransit according to the criteria also during the meeting.

If you are interested please contact Elaine Clark at the Town Hall.

Woodingford Lodge

We have many volunteer opportunities available. As little as one hour a week can make a big difference

For further information about volunteer opportunities, please contact

Tammy MacDonald, Volunteer Coordinator at 519-539-1245 ext. #201

Library Coordinator

This position is presently held by Gwen Hart. She could use the help of an assistant.

Do you enjoy reading? This is the only qualification needed to assist us in maintaining the Centre’s library. Books and magazines are continually being donated, borrowed and returned. If you have one hour per week to tidy, categorize and sort our books, we would greatly appreciate your assistance. The lending system of our library is used by many, however the ongoing organization needs to be maintained in order to avoid misplacement of books.

Please speak to Gwen or Wendy if interested.

Video Lending Library

Anyone interested in expanding or assisting?
Please see Wendy.

Newspaper (article) Columnist

We are looking for a supporter of our Centre to assist Wendy in writing a monthly column for the Ingersoll times. In the past we have included upcoming events, weekly programs and information on current trends and issues for Older Adults. If you feel you could offer your creativity and writing talents in promoting our active Centre, please speak with Wendy. This column was a great way to promote our Centre.

Let’s see it continue.

Many hands = less work = less maintenance = lower membership fee.

Seasonal Decorating Committee

Volunteers are needed to assist with decorating
the centre for special holidays.

Kitchen Help

Kitchen Volunteers are urgently needed

to help with our

Thursdays Lunches

Do you like spending time with your friends at lunch?
Is Members Lunch a program you enjoy attending?
We are in need of your help.

All we are asking is a couple hours of your time each month.
We are looking for friendly folks like yourself who can help serve on
Wednesday or Thursday.

As a volunteer with this program you help us keep our costs down so we can continue
to provide delicious meals at such a reasonable rate.

If this is something you would like to do to support your centre,
please see Rachael

Transportation Services

Many of the services we offer would not be possible without the help of volunteers. Our transportation service is probably our most utilized program and we are currently seeking volunteers to provide transportation. Drivers use their own vehicles and are reimbursed for mileage by the client . If you feel that you are a caring individual and would like to provide a much needed service to a member of your community please speak to one of the Staff or Council Member.

Telephone Reassurance

We also need 3 volunteers to provide telephone reassurance calls once a week. This program provides friendly visits and security checks through telephone conversations to clients who have been identified as being isolated and would benefit from a daily phone call from a caring volunteer. If you have 15 minutes to spare once a week and would be interested in joining our volunteer team, please contact Wendy or Rachael.

Our thanks goes out to all who have been volunteering with this program for the past year.

If you can spare a couple of hours each week helping drive clients to appointments or delivering frozen meals it would be greatly appreciated.

Volunteer Opportunities are available with the Senior's Centre and Senior's Services in the following areas:

  • Board of Directors, Senior's Centre Committees, Senior Services Committee: People with special skills and an interest in senior's issues may want to become community representatives on the Board, join one of the Seniors Centre committees (Property, Fundraising, Social & Special Events, Membership, Publicity, Special Interest) or help the Senior Services Committee plan services that will enhance the lives of seniors in the Ingersoll area.
  • Volunteer Drivers Dependable drivers are needed to escort seniors to appointments, shopping or social engagements. Drivers for "out-and-about" tours for shut-in seniors are also required. Volunteer's mileage cost is reimbursed by client.
  • Senior Diners' Club & Seniors Centre Kitchen: Volunteers help to prepare and/or serve food at the Senior Diner's Club and at special Senior's Centre events. Volunteer drivers are also frequently needed to escort frailer seniors to these programs.
  • "Frosty Meals" Delivery Nutritious frozen meals are delivered by volunteers on Monday to Friday to individuals in Ingersoll and the surrounding rural area. Clients call us to place orders.
  • Program: Volunteers are needed with entertainment skills (dancing, speaking, music, bingo, calling etc.) and artistic skills (poster making, bulletin boards, decorating). New ideas are welcome.

  • Meal Programs - We have been very fortunate to have so many people offer to help out with our meal programs. Volunteers are only required to help out once a month. If you are interested please contact one of the Staff or Council Member.
  • Seasonal Decorating: A committee of volunteers is needed to decorate the facility for special occasions. Although office staff enjoy decorating we cannot always make it a priority. We need your help! Watch for designated dates to put up seasonal decorations
  • Moving Furniture: Wanted: Strong men to help move tables and chairs to accommodate programs and rentals. Drop by the office before or after programs and ask if any furniture needs to be moved or set up.
  • Horseshoe Pits: Volunteers will be needed to assist caring for the upkeep during the summer. See one of the Staff or Council Member for more information.
  • Committee Members: Volunteers are needed to sit on Member’s Council. If you are interested in having input into programs, special events and issues relating to the centre then this would be the perfect job.
  • Building Supervision: We are still seeking volunteers to add to our list so we can spread the work around. If you are interested in being available during rentals of the facility and to unlock and lock the building
  • Gardening Upkeep - Volunteers will be needed to water our front gardens in the Spring.
