Right-click the file in the Attach: field
Left click on Save As...

135 - Outlook Express - Use A Different Font and Have People See It
A receiver of your e-mail doesn't see the special font you used to spruce up your message. This happens when an unavailable font at the receiver end is replaced with a default font (usually Times New Roman)

Rather then have the receiver search the internet for your special fonts, you can prepare the message in the format you want with the font you want.

Open a word processor (OOo Writer)
Prepare the message as you wish it to be seen. i.e. with pictures and fancy fonts
Left click on File
Select Export as PDF....
When the Export window opens
Select or create a folder to store the file
Open the folder
Give the file an appropriate name
Left click on Save
Open your E-mail application
Go through the normal procedure to select the receiver(s), and Subject.
Attach the PDF file you just created.
Send the message.

217 - Internet Explorer 7 - Text Too Large/Small
You can quickly and easily zoom in on a Web page. In Internet Explorer 7, just hold down the CTRL and press the plus sign (+) as many times as necessary to enlarge the whole page for easier viewing.

To zoom out, just hold down the CTRL and press the minus sign (-).

You can also click the magnifying glass icon at the bottom right corner of the Internet Explorer window to zoom. Or, select the arrow to open the list of zoom size options.

You can also hold down the CTRL and roll the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom in and out on a Web page.

218 - Music While You Work
Sometimes the job just gets a bit too boring (like creating web pages). You can enhance the job by tuning in to a radio station on the Internet.

Many stations can be found using your favourite search engine. You can now listen to the Galaxie channels online. This complimentary, ad supported service, is much like the one offered on digital television, except it has been adapted for the online platform

Click on the following window to connect to the site

When the Galaxie window opens

Select a Channel
Adjust your volume control
Enjoy

219 - Vista Solitaire vs XP Solitaire
During the M$ upgrades of Windows over the years, the popular game of Solitaire was continuously being changed from the days of - was it DOS? - to the present version for Vista. From the users of Vista Solitaire as found on the Internet, it appears to be a point of dissatisfaction as to why it was changed from what was used with XP.

Ask an XP user to Search and Copy two files - sol.exe and cards.dll - and send it to you via mass media or in an e-mail.

These two files in total, are approximately 400 kb in size and are easily transportable

When you receive these two files via floppy or flash memory

When the My Documents window opens
Left click on File

Left click on Folder
Name the Folder - XP Solitaire
Open a second Windows Explorer window (Win key + E)
Right click on any bare spot on the Taskbar

Left click on Tile Windows Vertically - You will now have My Documents and My Computer windows sitting vertically side by side. Should you have more than these two windows, Minimize or Close the unwanted windows and repeat the Tile Windows Vertically operation.

Use the My Computer window to locate sol.exe and cards.dll on the mass media storage device used for the transfer
Select the two files and drag them to the XP Solitaire folder in the My Documents window

Right click on the Shortcut - sol.exe
Left click on Rename
Type in XP Solitaire
Left click on the XP Solitaire shortcut and drag it to the Desktop or Start Menu

220 - Using Mass Media to Transfer Files Between Computers
It is recommended you save and close all open applications to begin these operations

When copying data to and from mass media - use a USB Flash Memory Stick, they're cheap and most convenient, just plug it into one of your computer's USB ports and it's RFU to read and write.

The procedures following are used to transfer files/folders from your HDD to mass media. To transfer files/folders from mass media to your HDD, substitute the following references for HDD with mass storage and mass storage for HDD.

Hold down one of the and press the E key once (this will open a Window Explorer window)

a) - Working with Folders

Locate and select the folder(s) you wish to transfer.
Left click on "X" at the RH corner of the Folders column

When the File and Folder Tasks column appears

When you're working with folders, left click on Copy this folder

When the Copy Items window opens

Left click on your Removable Disk (X)

CAUTION; - Do not remove the USB Flash Memory Stick until you follow the USB Flash Memory Stick Handling Procedures

221 - Easier Way to Maximize/Restore a Window
If you get tired of trying to click the tiny Maximize/Restore button in the top right corner of a window, there is an alternative.

The Title Bar, which runs across the top of each window, acts as a toggle switch.

Double-click the Title Bar to Maximize the window
Double-click the Title Bar again to Restore the window to its original size.

222 - USB Flash Memory Stick Handling Procedures
USB Flash Memory Sticks usually have an indicator to show when they are active and RFU. If the stick indicator does not come on when it is inserted, double check to see if it has been plugged into something other than a USB port, (it will fit into a LAN cable port) remove it and re-insert into a USB port. The indicator must come on to indicate RFU

Do not remove a USB Flash Memory Stick when your computer is turned on and its RFU indicator is on without going through the following procedure. Files on the USB Flash Memory Stick can be damaged and the stick may require reformatting before it can be used again.

Each time, before you remove your USB Flash Memory stick, left click on the icon in the Sys Tray near the clock indicating Safely Remove Hardware.

When the Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device - Drive(X) message appears

Left click on the message

When the above balloon appears

The RFU indicator on the stick will turn off
You may safely remove your USB Flash Memory Stick

223 - Computer Slow/Hanging - Manage the Task Manager

Computer a bit sluggish or hanging? Maybe an application is not responding. Open the Task Manager and find out what's going on in the background.

You can use the famous 3 finger salutes, Ctrl+Alt+Delete or Ctrl+Shift+Esc

Right click on the Task Bar and left click on Task Manager

When the Windows Task Manager opens
Select the Applications tab and quickly make an observation for any Task with a Status of "Not Responding"
Select the errant task
Left click on End Task

If all Tasks have a Running Status

Select the Processes tab

When the Windows Task Manager with the Processes tab opens
Double left click on the CPU column to sort showing the Application under Image Name with the highest CPU Usage
Please note, this view shows System Idle Process is 99%, always expect this Image Name to read high, it's when it doesn't is when you are having problems
When the CPU Usage: is in the high percentage range, it will also be indicated by the Processes running on your computer.
If you recognize the Process, restore the application and if you can, use Save followed by Close/Exit. The CPU Usage: should immediately drop.
If you do not recognize the Process, then you should Close/Exit each application you are using until the CPU Usage: drops dramatically. Make note of the application causing the high usage and keep a record of it in case of the problem re-occurring.
Also, you may double left click on the Mem Usage column and see what applications are hogging all of your memory. There will be at least 50 processes required for the normal use of your computer, many of them used for security.
For future use, it is advisable to know exactly what each process is used for in case of another slowdown or at worst, a virus attack. Click on the Image Name column to sort the processes alphabetically. Use a spreadsheet (OO.o) and list each process in a column as you see it in the Task Manager.
Use these sites to define the processes and record it in your spreadsheet.
Know the exact nature and purpose of any and every single processor  Click on one of the Icons to get details of your processes
These sites can be used for File Extensions #1,   File Extensions #2,   File Extensions #3

Any file not listed in these 3 sites, go directly to your Search Engines and find it. Something serious could be attacking your computer.

Many will be for those silly icons you never asked for, sitting in the Sys Tray. Get rid of them.

SVCHOST.EXE will be repeated a number of times and can usually be ignored.

New HP printers have a known outstanding problem at this time and one of its files will cause one of the svchost.exe to absorb 99% of your CPU usage:

Limit the number of open applications

In most cases when usage is high but not 100%, think of adding more memory, it is cheap, and can help considerably when you add an expansion.
