What's New At the Fair for 2007

Howdy, partner! Let me tell you about Western Days at the Embro Fair –

Our fair will be held at the community complex on the extreme south west corner of Embro on September 15 and 16 this year.

We are planning two (and a bit) fun filled days. The “a bit” is Friday evening Sept 14 when our expanded midway will be open from 3:00pm until 8:00pm with all rides $2.00, and free admission to the grounds.

Saturday morning gets started early with the cattle show. Just after 11:00am the parade will arrive on the grounds. Its route is from the east end of Embro along Commissioner Street. New this year, we will have a massive car show and engine blow up on Saturday afternoon. Indoors come check out the “Taste of Oxford” and find out exactly how much wonderful food originates right here in our great county.

The midway will be open all day and we will offer horse drawn wagon rides in the afternoon.

Advance tickets are required for the BBQ on Saturday evening, call 519-475-4083 to book them. Stay for the Embro Talent Show and the live auction of hand made goodies and unique items. Then it’s time to dance to the wonderful sounds of “Bareback Riders” a six man country band with endless energy and talent!

Returning on both days will be the Super Kids Fun Party. Gather your team to compete in the 7 on 7 soccer tournament. Greg Barrington will once again whisper to the horses on both days.

The Horse show starts early Sunday morning. At 10:00 the interdenominational church service begins, the baby show, pet show and tug of war are also back. New this year, we have lawn tractor races sanctioned by SOLTRA. The Midway will be open with pay one price to ride all day.

Browse through the large variety of exhibits that our talented community members enter. That area expands every year. We also have a nice variety of Commercial Vendors displaying their wares on both days.

When you are hungry, you won’t have to go far to get a good meal, our local community groups will offer a roast beef lunch on Saturday, Pork chop BBQ Saturday evening, Sunday brunch, ice cream all weekend, and lots of junk food.

Wow, what a weekend! And all this for just $5.00 per day, kids 10 & under are free, and the dance is only $12.00. You will need two days to take it all in, so drop by Matheson’s General Store on our main street sometime before fair time and pick up a weekend pass for $8.00 not including the dance.

If you have any questions, need a fair book to decide what to enter, or just want to know more about us, please call Carol Hanlon at 519-485-0668, or Mary Ellen Garner at 519-475-4096 or 519-475-4437 in the evening. We would love to hear from you!

We will see you at Western Days at the Embro Fair!!
