The Ingersoll library staff has prepared this information from Town of Ingersoll microfilmed Vital Statistics records of births, deaths and marriages from 1896 to 1934. The information was input into a database and was made available on-line through the assistance of our talented web design team. Any transcription/lookup that you request is performed by Ingersoll Library staff.
Search tips:
- The 'Search In' field, will allow you to search three name fields. The default selection searches the main name field. You can change it using the drop-down menu to search for the name of the father and the mother
- Try searching just the surname, or with surname and first initial, often gentlemen were referred to by initials and surname only
Your search should look like one of the following:
Smith
Smith, John to search for a last name and first name, be sure to use last name first
Smith, J
- Use the 'Options' menu and try choosing 'Starts with' or 'Contains'
e.g. by entering McKin in the 'Surname' field and choosing 'starts with' on the 'Options' menu, the index should return results for McKinlay, McKinley, McKinlee, etc.
e.g. by entering Kay in the 'Surname' field and choosing 'contains' on the 'Options' menu, the index should return results for McKay and MacKay, etc
- Be sure to try alternate spellings for the surname
Why are some of the Vital Statistics: Marriages entires so brief?
Vital Statistics: Marriages, covers the years August 4 1896 - January 27, 1934. However, as of April 1911,
the registrar severely abbreviated the form and the questions asked of the contracting parties.
Unfortunately, this resulted in only five fields of information available for transciption:
Groom, Bride, Place, Clergyman, Date

Vital Statistics Information is held at the Archives of Ontario. These records can accessed
several ways:

Consulted at the Archives of Ontario's Main Reading Room, 77 Grenville Street, Toronto.
This room is open 8:15 am to 10:30 pm Monday to Friday and 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Saturday.
Reference staff are available to assist you from 8:15 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays.
Borrowed through the Interlibrary Loan Department of your public library.
Quote the appropriate MS and reel #. These reels cannot leave the borrowing library,
so make sure to order them from a library that has a microfilm reader.
