With Mortar and Pine: a collection of the architectural heritage in the Township of Norwich, was published in 1980, and authored by the Local Architecture Conservation Advisory Committee of the Township of Norwich; members included Murray Rettie, Joyce Pettigrew, Marie Avey, Joyce Clark, Christine Holdsworth, Mac Hicks

The forward of the book reads as follows:
"The Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee [LACAC] of the township of Norwich has compiled this group of drawings, histories, and descriptions of some of the early architecture of the township. The Norwich and District Historical Society and the South Norwich Historical Society, with the support of Wintario, dedicated to the past, present and future generations of the township of Norwich.

The committee, in their preparation of this book, fully realize that they have offered only a portion of the architectural heritage of the area. It is our hope that through the drawings and text the residents will more fully appreciate their heritage and pursue its preservation.

The drawings have been done by Joanne Pettigrew, a graduate of Fine Art [McMaster] and a native of the township.

We are indebted to all those who have assisted with this publication in any way, especially the homeowners who opened their homes to the interviewers. Thanks go to the students of the 1977 Young Canada Works Project: Joel Howard, Lahring Tribe and Joanne Pettigrew. We also thank Mary Ellen Walker of the Experience ’78 Project. Through a knowledge and appreciation of the past we may more capably mould the future”".

This book is now out of print.
