I am trying to ascertain the true birth information for my Great Grandfather George Alfred Farmer. Family members have always stated George was from England - born abt 1870. However, his marriage registration (married at the age of 28 to Mary Louise Hatch - September 14, 1898 @ Burriss) lists him being born in Tilsonburg. George passed away July 19, 1926. I cannot find a match through LDS - with exception of family trees submitted by individuals. Appreciate any information, assistance or look-up referrals. Looking for any information on Elizabeth SMYTH/SMITH b. 1852 who married Henry NEAR/NEHER b. abt 1845.
Elizabeth was the daughter of John SMITH/SMYTH and Mary SPARKHALL who moved into the Oxford area from Haldimand Co. about 1871 and settled in Norwich. On the 1881 census, an grandson George NEAR is living with John and Mary.
Any help appreciated.
