Everyone needs a Laugh
By Stephen Scovil

If you've ever picked up a paper and flipped to the comics section first just to be disappointed by the minimal selection of comics, or worse yet, come to find that someone has stolen the funnies before you've had a chance to read them, then www.comics.com is perfect for you.

Comics.com features an archive of a month of the past strips as well as the most recent releases for dozens of popular comics, ranging from "B.C" to "Dilbert".

To access the comic strip of your choice, simply click the 'Click here to select a comic" drop-down box and select the cartoon you want to see and you'll be quickly transported to the site's page for that particular strip, containing that day's strip and the 31 previous strips. You can cruise easily through the archive using the convenient little calendar located right below the comic. Clicking on any of the dates will bring up the cartoon from that day!

If you're unfamiliar with one of the comic strips available on Comics.com, the site provides short descriptions of the strip and its author. These are available if you click the "About (the comic)" or the "About the Artist" links near the top of the left side bar. If you're really looking for in-depth answers to questions about the strip, the site even provides information on how to contact the author.

Comics.com offers added bonuses and conveniences for those comics you just find outrageously funny. Do you find someone in one of the strips surprisingly like one of your friends? Want to share the laughter? By clicking on the "Email this comic to a friend" link located to the bottom-right of the comic, you are presented with a simple form to fill out that will e-mail the comic to anyone you want. Even yourself, if you feel so inclined!

So you've read all the previous daily cartoons but you still haven't quenched your thirst for more humour? Well, if you really liked that comic, take a quick look to the middle left side of the page. If offers a few suggestions of comics you may like if you liked that comic. Your quest for brutal cynicism doesn't have to end with just "Andy Capp", as a quick link on the left will lead you directly to the like-minded "Herman".

Maybe the standard comic fare just isn't quick what you're looking for, and you're in the mood for something a bit harsher and more opinionated? Right next to the Comic selection drop-down box, there's a box with a list of editorial cartoonists too! Often with weeks of previous cartoons, the editorial comic section is a great way to view public opinion on current events with wit and humour.

Even doctors are praising the health benefits of laughter, claiming that laughing is an ideal means of relieving stress. Head over to www.Comics.com and have yourself a laugh today!
