The Simpsons... On-line!
By Lyndsay Sinke
July 27, 2002

They are the cartoon family that we've all come to love-or love to hate. With their often rude comments to one another and the insane predicaments in which they become entangled, we devotedly tune in each time they're on television. I'm talking about The Simpsons, and like every other extremely popular television show, they too have a website.

At www.thesimpsons.com you will enter into the cartoon world of The Simpsons. The index of this site is an aerial view of Springfield, the town we've all come to know as well as our own. By clicking on one of the buildings in the town, you are able to get more information about different aspects on the show. For example, clicking on the Courthouse building will take you to listings of character biographies. These biographies include the Simpson family, the unforgettable guest stars, Springfield school's staff and students, and the townspeople.

Not only are there biographies on the cartoon characters who star in the show, there are also bios on the actors and creators of the ever-popular show.

When you are finished in one section, you must use your back button on your browser to go to the index displayed as the aerial view of Springfield.

By clicking on "Krusty's Comment" you will have a small screen pop up that will give you Krusty's comment of the week. Krusty's comments are really comments that have been posted by users of the site. In the Krusty's Comment screen there is a link to the Community area where you can see other viewer's links. The Community area is a place where users can go and speak their mind. They are free to post new discussions or read other messages that people have posted. Like with many other message boards and websites you can register at this site to be a member.

Another added bonus of this site is "The Simpsons Store". The store is heaven for any Simpsons lover. Here you are able to buy DVD and video copies of Simpsons episodes. The Simpsons Store also provides a link to the FOX Entertainment and FOX Store website: both are places where you can buy--naturally--more FOX products.

This site also has a section called "This Week." At this link, a small screen will appear, which will give you information about the episode that is being broadcast on FOX during the current week. This information includes a small synopsis of what's going to happen during this episode.

After reviewing this site and looking through each area, I have come to love this cartoon world more than before. The Simpsons are funny and enjoyable-this web site only helps to make the televised episodes even more funny and enjoyable. Log on and see for yourself what your favourite cartoon town is up to after the television set is turned off.
