Ideas for Games
By Steven Scovil
November 29, 2001
I have played a lot of video games. Not just for a short while, either. I've been playing video games for years upon years ever since I first set my hands on an Atari controller to play Defender for the first time. So it should come as no surprise that I've also become familiar with many of the sites dedicated to video game news and reviews on the Internet, of which there are many.
As the holiday season approaches, two new video games systems and loads of new games are being released. At this time, you may want to check up on which products would be best for yourself and your children.
To do this, you need look no further than one of my favourite sites, www.ign.com. This site's video game and PC game sections are sure to satisfy every gamer's need for information, news, pictures, hints, and cheats. This site covers just about everything you could imagine and has some of the most recent information on the Internet to keep you up-to-date, while providing brutally honest reviews to keep you from purchasing something you'll regret later.
If you are a parent who is trying to find what would be best game to buy for your child, just click on the name of the video game system you own under the "Games" section of the left sidebar. This will uncover a gold mine of information on that system and the games that can be played on that system. This provides a full list of almost every game available for the system, and you can even view all the games available under each genre available. Say you know someone who just can't get enough of puzzle games. Just select "Puzzle" from the drop-down box at the top of the page, click "Go", and gain access to a full list of all the puzzle-type games for that system. Clicking on the name of any of the games in the list will take you to a page with general information on the game (how many players, genre, release date, etc.) and links to any reviews, previews, or news related to that game. Perfect for holiday or birthday shopping decision-making.
If you're interested in gaming news and information, look no further than the "News" section, which provides more news and information about the industry that you could ever possibly need. Put an end to that speculation and get professional opinion and official news releases here. You can even search through all their previous news articles dating back to previews before the release of the system.
Whether you're a casual video gamer, a dedicated video gamer, or simply someone in need of help to make a decision to buy someone a game, IGN is a great place to find everything you're looking for in one site.
