Electronic Greetings
Erica Gehring
February 19, 2001

Like most people, I enjoy sending and receiving cards in the mail. Unfortunately I also sometimes forget birthdays or other important dates until it's too late to send something through the mail. Luckily for people like me, there are services on the Internet that allow you to send cards electronically. As long as the potential receiver has a valid email address that they check regularly, you can sleep easy knowing that electronic greeting services such as http://www.bluemountain.com exist.
The "Blue Mountain" electronic greeting card site is very user-friendly, even for a first time e-card sender. Essentially, this site offers the use of card templates to users. You just need to point and click to fill in some information which will personalize the cards. The main page of the Blue Mountain site has a drop-down box which lists possible holidays or occasions worthy of an electronic greeting. Also, there are a variety of selections to choose from, such as "Stay in Touch," "Congratulations and Encouragement," or "Religious." An extra feature that this particular site offers is the opportunity to create a card from "scratch." That is, you can create your own card instead of using the card templates.
Once you have decided what type of card you would like to send, you simply choose your selection with the mouse. This will bring up a list of template cards that you can browse through and click on to view what they would look like. You then scroll down the page to the section where you can fill in specific information. Here you are required to add the recipient's name and email address, along with yours, and, if you chose, a personal greeting. Finally, with the click of a button, your e-card is on its way.
There are other possible sites that you could go to. For instance, you could try Hallmark at http://www.hallmark.com, E-Cards at http://www.e-cards.com, or just visit your favourite search engine and type in a search for "e-cards" or "electronic greetings". Whatever way you track them down, electronic greeting card services are convenient and fun to use.
