The Canada Site (http://www.canada.gc.ca) is a useful resource for finding out information about your income tax or other government services, but it can also be a place for kids to learn and have fun.
The "Interactive Zone" (http://canada.gc.ca/canadiana/interactive_zone_e.html), is a source of interesting Canadian online tours, quizzes and games. "Virtual Tours" leads to tours through several national museums, including the Canadian Heritage Information Network, Canadian Museum of Civilization, Museum of New France, National Gallery of Canada, and the National Library of Canada. "Multimedia" links to a number of games and audio/visual clips offered by a number of government departments.
If you find yourself constantly asking: "Is that your final answer?" you can test your knowledge of Canadian history, geography, or weather. The "About Canada" quiz provides a list of multiple-choice questions. The "Canadian Heritage" quiz is a ten question multiple choice quiz and the "Canadiana Challenge" provides a button that activates a pop up window with a question and additional information.
The "National Atlas" quiz allows you to select the category, level of difficulty, number of questions and time limit. When you have selected your choices, let the quiz begin. "Test your Weather Knowledge" has twenty-one multiple-choice questions on Canadian weather and climate. Choose your answers and submit them to determine if you should replace the TV weather forecaster.
The "Kids Canada" quiz contains information and links geared for children. An animated beaver that will reveal some information about Canada's size and the name of the beaver on the nickle will greet you. Then you will be taken to a list of links that include games, colouring pages, the CBC, and a chat room.
The Canada site is a great place to learn about Canada and have some fun!
