Oxford County Library Find a Job
September 25, 1999
Gary Hesselink
For those of you still searching for that perfect job, the Oxford County Library home page offers a great place for you to start.
By linking off the http://www.ocl.net site to the "Find a Job" section, you can find many opportunities and sites related to any job search. If you're looking for a part-time position in the area or you plan to move to Vancouver, a job search can be conducted efficiently and hopefully profitably.
A good site to start your job search is the national Graduate Registry. The National Graduate Registry (http://ngr.schoolnet.ca/) site accommodates Canadian applicants, recent graduates and employers and is accessed over 150,000 visits per month!
By signing up, not only can you view the listings, but post your resume, too. Once you've completed the registration process, which is completely free, you can check back to the site periodically and make changes and up dates to your resume and view the most recent job postings.
Another great feature to this site is that you can see how many potential employers have viewed your resume-a comfortable thought when one is in the hunt for that perfect job.
Gary's Internet Tip: do you like to send out emails to large groups at a time? Why not start a mailing list? You can get a free mailing list at http://www.listbot.com and it's a great way to keep everyone in the loop. Instead of sending an email to 10 or more different addresses, you send it to one single address and everyone you have put on the mailing list receives it. For those of you who are tired of forgetting that one important person in an email, why not try this method. Singing up takes no time at all and the program is very easy to follow.
