Turnkey's
Residence
Originally, the turnkey had a two-room apartment on
the second floor of the gaol (jail). However, in 1897,
a yellow brick residence was erected on Buller Street,
adjacent to the gaol.
This building was vacated in 1977 when the front of
the gaol, along with part of the wall and the turnkey’s
residence, were demolished.
