County Social Services and Housing
(formerly the Oxford
County Library)
When
permission was received to move back part of the east
jail wall in 1965, the County was able to begin construction
on its centennial project - the County Centennial Library.
With
the move to the Oxford County Library building from
cramped quarters in the basement of the Court
House, staff were better able to continue the work
of distributing reading material to all parts of the
County. A book exchange program in the schools and later
a traveling bookmobile were some of the projects undertaken.
The
Oxford County Library Staff has since moved to new
quarters in Ingersoll but the Department
of Social Services and Housing is now located in
the former library building.
